Seba Ramírez is a Paraguayan drummer, percussionist, and composer based in Boston whose work bridges contemporary jazz, Paraguayan music, and the rhythmic traditions of South America. As a performer, he has built an international career across the Americas and Europe, bringing together the drum set, percussion, improvisation, and the musical languages that have shaped his multicultural background.

Throughout his career, Ramírez has performed and recorded in a wide range of settings, from jazz and improvised music to Paraguayan and Latin American projects. He has toured extensively with the Juanjo Corbalán Quartet, recording Concierto en Vivo en Sala Zitarrosa, Viaje al Interior, and Jazz No es Polca, and appears on Pablo Selnik’s Decadence as a Virtue, released by Fresh Sound Records. His discography includes thirty full-length albums, in addition to singles and individual tracks appearing on more than twenty other albums. Since 2026, he has been an artist-in-residence at Boston’s historic Wally’s Cafe Jazz Club, while maintaining an active performing schedule across the United States and internationally.

As a bandleader, Ramírez released Untied (Urban Waves Records, 2024), recorded in Barcelona and featuring four of his original compositions.

Ramírez has also played an important role in Paraguay’s jazz community. He served as director and arranger of the CCPA Jazz Quintet at the Centro Cultural Paraguayo Americano, co-founded the cultural venue Drácena, and created and directed the Festival Internacional Jazz al Este.

Alongside his performing career, Ramírez is an educator and researcher whose work explores Paraguayan music, jazz, and South American rhythmic traditions. He taught drum set for more than a decade at FADA–Universidad Nacional de Asunción and holds degrees from the Universidad Nacional de Asunción, Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona, and Berklee College of Music in Boston.
